All to You

I just finished reading the book of Job. I remembered when Brian accepted this pastor's position, Janet Jones wrote on his Facebook wall, "The LORD blessed the latter part of Job's life more than the first."

Well we have lived a blessed life so far and I certainly hope to never have to go through what Job went through! I have heard a lot of talk about trials this week and it goes back to Brock's sermon last week when he talked about Job and his trials. Brian talked about a sermon that he heard by James McDonald that talked about trials. Life is a trial. We have either just gotten out of one, are in one or are getting ready to face one. Maybe a big one, maybe a small one, but we are promised trials.

As I have been struggling with letting go of my financial security, I was comforted today in reading that Jesus said that anyone who gives up something for the Kingdom of God will be repaid. Maybe not in this life, perhaps in the life to come but God promises it will happen.

My study Bible referred me to Luke 18:22-23 When Jesus heard his answer, he said, “There is still one thing you haven’t done. Sell all your possessions and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”

But when the man heard this he became very sad, for he was very rich.

I know we will be fine. I have seen the numbers. They work. But it's going to be a change in lifestyle. It will work. It will be good, I'm sure. It's just scary.

I close with a song in my head. All to You by Lincoln Brewster.
I'm living my life for You
And I'm giving everything to You
Not holding back, from every part
I'm giving it all to You
