She is such a Beautiful and Brave Young Woman. Scoliosis is scary. Our daughter was very blessed and fortunate. After over a year of watching and waiting she is now done growing and will never need a brace or surgergy. She was so excited the day she saw Cali at Dr. Didelot's Office too. She and I have read and found strength in Cali's words and courage. Our thoughts and prayers are with her, your family, and her doctors. She is such a great role model for young women:) Thanks Cali for sharing your journey<3

Hi! I happened across your blog tonight. I just hit the "next blog" button from my own blog, and yours came up. My 5 year old son had to have a major surgery a couple years ago, so I totally get the emotions that go along with that kind of thing for moms. You're in my prayers!!!

Also, I don't know if Blogger tracks locations or what, but my son was also treated last year for some orthopedic problems (not related to the surgery) by Dr. Didelot. :) LOVED him!

I am in the same season of life as you:) I too have prayed and wondered what I should do now that my children are all in school. I love that you will still be home with your children. If you feel good about photography I say go for it! Your story sounds so similar to my own. Got married at 20 didn't finish my degree in elem. ed. had 3 kids. Love my life. Also, Kathleen used to work for a company called Lionbridge from home. I don't think it generated a lot of income, but it might help bring in a bit more money. I'm sure she'd be happy to share her experience with you.

Great post! I too have a tough time letting go and letting God. It is tough to do yet it sometimes baffles me why I still doubt. Fortunately the Lord understands and is extremely patient. I also like what you said about prayer changing us vice our circumstances sometimes. Very true. Hang in there and know that He has us in His mighty grip. Also, keep blogging your experiences it is good therapy as well. It has been for me ever since I started my own blog about my walk with the Lord (www.rtw924.blogspot.com).

My father suffered from his illness for many years and he died in July. I helped to care for him these past ten years. It can be heartbreaking to see the man who is supposed to be so strong not doing what he had always done. My brother lost his son this year as well- and you are right a parent losing a child is a grief like no other. There is something special about a dad though. You always want to be his little girl and see him as the protector. Things are difficult this holiday season for our family but I know both my nephew and my dad are together and at peace. I will keep your dad in my thoughts and prayers that he will be healed from his pain. God is great, even when times are the most difficult. Merry Christmas to the Saunders family

It's tough to see a Dad in pain. We are so used to seeing our Dad's as the one to lean on, the "fixer", The protector. When My Dad was sick it was so hard for me to understand and to accept. Keep praying and listening. He is there. Blessings and prayers for your Dad and you. Joanne

What a beautiful family! I found your blog through Brian's facebook link. I read your post about sending your baby to Kindergarten...I am doing the same next Thursday! The only difference for me is that we still have 1/2 day Kindergarten here. I think that is making it easier. I think she would be more ready for full day Kindergarten than I am. I am grateful that I will be able to ease myself into this transition in our life. I think it is harder the 3rd time than the first because she is the baby! So glad my husband will be with me the first day I send her off on the bus! Thanks for sharing your thoughts! I will keep them in mind next week!

I just wanted to say, good for you!

We have 7 children, and only one played baseball. He wasn't very good, but he persevered, and we cheered him on. He is an accountant now.

Our son who loved sports so very, VERY much, has cerebral palsy, and was unable to play. He told me once when he was 13... "Mom, I'm glad that I have CP, because if I didn't, I might put sports before God." I was amazed at him.
He is a high school teacher now.
And, he STILL LOVES sports. :)

Carrie, I read this yesterday and it really touched me. We've been in a cash crunch lately - just the way it is sometimes - and I've been feeling panicky. But this put it all in perspective:

Proverbs 30:8-9: Give me neither poverty nor riches, but give me only my daily bread. Otherwise, I may have too much and disown you and say, 'Who is the LORD ?' Or I may become poor and steal, and so dishonor the name of my God.

I thought, OK, I'm not going to steal... but when I let money worries sabotage my mood, I'm not honoring God. That put a whole new spin on it. If I worry about it, I'm not trusting Him, I'm not honoring Him, and I'm not pointing others to Him.

And remember, NONE of us are "qualified" to serve God, but He allows us and asks us to anyway. All that He's done for us makes us qualified. As long as you remember that, and remember that you're there only because He put you there, everything else will fall into place. You'll be great. And He is always great :-).

If you and Cali talk honestly about things, you're good to go! My mom and I have always had a very open and honest relationship. I didn't tell her EVERYTHING, but we talked about the important stuff. Don't be afraid to start the conversation with her. She might get upset sometimes, but she'll get over it. I didn't always like my parents' rules, but I'm glad now for them! You're doing a great job! All your kids are awesome and you can tell them I think they're extra special!

I felt exactly the same way when Hannah started Junior High and now that we are heading to High School . . . it's 10 times worse!! All we can do is teach them right from wrong and cover them in prayer when they are away from us. At least we have other Moms to lean on!
